Developing Consensus represents the region’s leading property investors, developers and professional advisors
The group is working to address some of the most pressing issues facing the Greater Newcastle City Region, specifically regarding stimulating the economy through the built environment.
Over the last 10 years Developing Consensus members have invested over £750m into the north east economy and have been responsible for the delivery of the most significant developments. On 22 June almost 150 property professionals came together under the Developing Consensus banner to discuss how, as the business community, we can act together with all stakeholders to create opportunities to enhance the built environment in the Greater Newcastle area. The outcomes of the event can be summarised under two principal headings:
Attracting
The investment, funding, new occupiers and talent we need for Greater Newcastle to continue to grow and flourish. Working together to attract inward investment, with the private sector supporting the north east LEP, individual councils and NGI, and promoting a single, strong and compelling message to attract new business.
Delivering
Commercially viable schemes through a streamlined process from planning to occupation. Working together on delivering high quality and high value projects through innovative approaches to planning, funding and construction. Ensuring that a range of high quality accommodation is always available for both existing and new incoming demand.
In both areas the overriding aim is to see more collaboration and a joined up approach between public and private sectors. The founding members of Developing Consensus welcome new members who are interested in helping to enhance the built environment and driving forward economic development. We will be launching a series of small, specific working groups under these two overarching aims which will report into meetings of the wider membership on a regular basis.
